Peter Pan's Flight
Everyone has heard of Peter Pan, the little boy who wouldn’t grow up, either from Disney’s animated film or the original book written by J.M. Barrie, but have you ever ridden a boat high up in the sky and visited Never-Never Land? No? Well what are you waiting for? Head over to Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom for one of Walt Disney’s most popular rides.

It is definitely worth getting a Fastpass for this ride or you could be in for a long wait and I do mean long, especially during peak periods. A flying pirate ship, each holding up to three passengers, is your mode of transport for the journey to Neverland. As you board your boat Tinker Bell sprinkles you with pixie dust and off you go to join Peter and his friends.
Your ride begins in the nursery at Wendy, Michael and John Darling’s home and from there you are transported high above the famous sights of London, Big Ben, London Bridge and the River Thames. The attention to detail is truly marvellous. |
Peter Pan and the children can be seen flying through the night sky as you pass by the moon. Then onto Neverland where you will encounter mermaids at The Mermaid Lagoon and Indians having a pow-wow and of course Tinker Bell and Captain Hook. The tune "You Can Fly, You Can Fly, You Can Fly” plays continuously throughout the ride.

As you approach Captain Hook’s forty-eight foot pirate ship, poor Wendy is being made to walk the plank by Smee and the lost boys are all tied up. A sword fight then ensues with Peter Pan and Hook battling it out. The children are saved and the ride ends with Captain Hook between the jaws of the crocodile.
Although the ride is not frightening, it is pretty much in the dark so some small children may be slightly afraid.
Look out for the children’s building blocks on the floor of the nursery. One group of blocks is by Wendy’s bed and the other is near the window just as you exit the nursery. They spell out “P Pan” and “Disney”. Look for the shadow of Peter on the nursery wall. |

The only negative thing I have to say about the ride is that it is not long enough. A total of three minutes from start to finish and if you have had a long wait it certainly takes away the magic. Make sure you get a Fastpass!
