Kilimanjaro Safaris
Located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, this short but spectacular safari encapsulates the heart of Africa, in the middle of Florida!

The savage Serengeti is the setting for the safari, which lasts approximately fifteen minutes. You buckle up in your thirty-foot jeep and set out into the wild, driven by a tour guide with a wealth of knowledge and also a good sense of humour! As with many Disney attractions, you have the opportunity to learn and understand the basic concepts of animal and safari life, and the things currently occurring in native Africa, such as poaching.
Every safari is different; you never quite know which animal you may see next or in what quantity and how close up. On many occasions you are almost close enough to touch them! |

As you enter the reserve the tour guide is incredibly eagle eyed and will spot animals and point them out to you and provide background information on each, whether they are herbivorous, or carnivorous, the speed they travel, and more aptly their role in the Serengeti. Animals sighted on safari include flamingos, pelicans, gazelles, zebra, giraffe, monkeys, elephants, rhino, and mountain lion plus many more.
Your tour guide will encourage you to take photos if you wish, however with the bumpy nature of the ride and the guide being unable to stop, photography can prove difficult but certainly not impossible for good pictures.

As is often the case with Disney, nothing is quite as straightforward as it may seem and approximately half way through your tour you come across an old wooden bridge, and whilst crossing the bridge it begins to tip up to the left as though it cannot support the weight of the jeep. | |
 | Towards the end of the ride, the reserve’s founder informs the tour guide of poachers in the area, which must be caught! A high-speed chase ensues which results in the capture of the poachers much to the delight of everyone in the safari truck.
This is a must see, must do attraction, which is different every time you ride, and provides an educational insight to Africa and the animals that live there. A word of warning though, the ride is very bumpy in places with quite a few jolts. So if you suffer with back or neck problems you may want to give this one a miss.
